Doors 8pmTickets available for €15 (incl. booking fee)
Over the last four years, The Flatliners have spent almost thirty months in vans, dive bars, and concert halls across North America, Europe, and Japan, building up a dedicated following with a sound that mixes the endless fury of ‘90s skate punk with the nuanced, intelligent songwriting of classic post-punks like the Replacements and Hot Water Music. After releasing the ska-punk tinged Destroy to Create (Union Label Group) in 2005, the band evolved into a harsh melodic machine with 2007’s The Great Awake (Fat Wreck Chords), completing their transition into a vital modern punk unit with the Cynics 7″ (Fat Wreck Chords) in late 2009.http://www.mercantilehotel.ie/gig/the-flatliners/

“Evan Thomas Weiss (Into It Over It) and Andrew Koji Shiraki (KOJI) have made something “ten years overdue”. The two prolific songwriters, who have been longtime friends, entered Drasik Studios in Chicago, IL for seven days in the summer of 2010 and collaborated to record ten new songs (five songs each) with the help of engineer Mark Michalik (The Swellers, Fireworks, Stay Ahead Of The Weather). This split vinyl LP release, featuring a tirade of guest musicians from bands such as La Dispute, Castevet, Cloudmouth and more, was released on November 23, 2010, and was accompanied by three documentary in-studio film segments shot by The Work (thework.com), as well as new photos and other multimedia content. These songs were an effort to bring to the public a friendship that has transcended time, distance, creativity and background. These are two best friends. This is what they made together.

Saturday 27th AugustCOLD COMFORT+ THE CANDIDATES & DANNY McMAHON Followed by Alabama 3 Dj set with Larry Love, Free Admission
Doors 7pmCold Comfort Ep launch Party with Support from The Candidates, Danny McMahon (Powderhorse) and a DJ set from Alabama 3. COLD COMFORT is Rob Walsh on guitar and lead vocals, Colm Hassett on percussion, drums, Anna Doran on vocals, Joey McGowan on bass, and Eoin Mossy on lead guitar. Last year Rob decided it was time to try something other than the usual singer/songwriter buzz. Colm liked Rob’s sound and suggested bringing Joey McGowen to the table. Anna was already adding backing vocals to Rob’s solo work, so they all met up in Hellfire Studios in October 2010 to go through some of Rob’s tracks and just kick back and jam. With everyone agreeing that they had something, they decided to take the trip…. Mossy stepped in on lead guitar early in 2011 and Cold Comfort was solid. Described as “an eclectic mix of blues, rock n’ roll and country with influences such as Neil Young, The Velvet Underground and Rory Gallagher”, Cold Comfort combines a driving rhythm with Rob’s honest and no bullshit lyrics. His Songs reflect the pain and the passion and the everyday madness. They tell tales of journeys and trips, soaked in emotion, devotion, but mostly commotion. Rob sings with meaning and most of all, soul. Put all of this in the mix with musicians who drive the vibe and keep the groove and you’ve got somethin’ that’s gonna “light up the night

Doors 10pm

THE STORY SO FAR Mutefish started as a busking project in streets of Dublin, with loads of people coming and going, and the first tunes were written long before the name was chosen. The necessity for the name came when the first demo ‘Zeby To Bylo Spoko’ was recorded in Summer 2007. at that time it was a three piece band – Bogus (Poland) on guitar, Marka (Lithuania) on Cajon and Vaclav (Czech Republic) on mandolin. The name was chosen partly as a joke, referring to Vaclav who always said he feels like a mute fish in Ireland because he couldn’t speak any English. After considerable success busking in Galway arts festival the band took a one year break because Bogus needed to go back to Poland to finish his degree. On summer 2008 the guys met again in Dublin to shake Galway arts festival once more. Right after the new year the bass player Tomas (Lithuania) joined and only a few months later Vaclav left the band, and Mutefish was on pause again. The trio started a surf music side project (the Braconniers) and carried on under this flag till june when drummer Peter (Ukraine) and flute player Daithi (Ireland) joined and mutefish were revived. In the summer OF 2009 Mutefish recorded another demo ‘Muteation’ which gets them from the streets to the pub scene of Dublin and the band started to appear in Irish music festivals. may 2010 Mutefish lock themselves in Temple lane studio to record a new album, ‘On Draught’ but due to several reasons it’s release is delayed till November. the album launch is being held to the full house in prestigious Dublin venue Button Factory as a part of ‘where the Magic Happens’ event.Mutefish are:Bogus – guitar/mandolin, Marka – cajon/guitar, Daithi – flute/tin whistle, Tomas – bass, Peter – drums
